I've always loved vintage {Spring 16}

With the warmer season arriving, I've been busy designing and sewing vintage-inspired summer collection which I've named after my love of Turquoise Bay.  Turquoise Bay in Western Australia is known for its pristine waters and beautiful beach with soft fine white sand.  There's sun bonnets with wide brims and cute ribbon ties which look absolutely adorable on babies.  Little girls' teadresses for lovely days at the beach, picnicing and attending tea parties.  And for the gentlemen-to-be, classic shorts and matching bandana bibs.

Sticks and Stones... and Bonnets {Summer 16}

WORDS. Since becoming a mother I've rediscovered my childhood love of poetry. Having to choose my words wisely, with utmost care. Knowing that when, what and how I speak shapes their magical wee world.

SENSES. Trusting my 'gut instinct' really came into full effect when I was pregnant with our second baby. After all the doctors, worrying, and multiple progress checks, we were blessed to give birth to a beautiful baby girl with only mild hearing loss.

LISTENING. We are very lucky that Australia has incredible support for the hard of hearing community and are able to access Early Childhood Development programs including speech therapists and audiologists. I'll always remember what our support officer told me at our first appointment, that I must "teach her to listen".

WORDS. "Eeeww! That's not for chewing," I exclaim as I find missy munching away on her ear mould and hearing aid.  And that is how I came to sketch out a practical bonnet design, and sew together the classic bonnets you see featured from the Creatively Candice studio.
